How To Make A Fitness Video For Youtube

If we’ve learned anything over the course of the last year, it’s that finding things to do at home is super important. Staying busy in the middle of a crazy global situation is a great way to make sure you’re in the best shape mentally, and so it’s very important to find ways to occupy your mind and body while you’re stuck at home.

If you’re anything like thousands of other people, you’ve probably found yourself trying to find ways to stay in shape from the comfort of your own home.  Thankfully, the internet (and specifically YouTube) has become a place where fitness videos are shared regularly, and there’s no shortage of different routines to try.

However, if you’ve tried tons of different fitness videos and haven’t found one that you love, maybe you’ve created your own workout routine! If you love it so much that you need to share it with the world, you need to learn how you can get your content out to the masses.  Making your own YouTube videos can seem daunting, so it’s important to make sure you know the basics before you get started.  In this article, let’s talk about all the steps you need to take to make sure you’re on the right track to make a fitness video for Youtube.

How Do You Make A YouTube Video?

When it comes to creating, sharing, and accessing premium video content online, YouTube is the absolute best platform.  While several of its competitors have tried to come up with ways to dethrone the king of self-broadcasting, YouTube has remained the number one choice for creators to share their vision, perspective, and creative voice with their audiences across the globe.  If you ask a thousand people where they watch online videos (other than television shows), chances are you’re going to hear YouTube as the answer the majority of the time.

The first step in creating a fitness video to upload on YouTube is to learn how to make a video for YouTube.  After all, if you don’t know how to make a video in the first place, it’ll be hard to create something for YouTube!  Here’s a step by step guide on how to get started on YouTube:

  • First, you’re going to need to create a YouTube channel.  This is by far the easiest step and is something you’ll be able to complete in just a few minutes.  If you already have a Google account for Gmail or any of Google’s other services, you likely already have a YouTube account!  If not, it’s very easy to just go to YouTube, create an account in seconds, and move on to the next step.  If you’ve already got a Google account, just go to YouTube, sign in with that account, and link it to a channel.

  • Next, you need to verify your account.  This is a simple way that Google verifies that the people creating accounts on its platform are, in fact, real people and not just bots.  After creating your channel, you will receive a text verification code.  Once you input that code into your browser or the YouTube app, your channel will become verified.l Restrictions like upload limit and video length will be removed, and you will also be able to broadcast live!

  • Finally, YouTube makes the video uploading process fairly straightforward.  It might be a good idea to upload a private test video just to familiarize yourself with the way it all works, just so when you get around to the real thing, you’re fully prepared.  Make sure you pick a file with an approved file format, including .MP4, .WMV, .AVI, and several others.  While YouTube supports a wide range of video file codecs, it’s always a good idea to make sure you’re uploading the right thing.

Then, once you’re logged into your account, look at the video icon in the top right hand of the screen, click “Upload Video,” select the right file (or files), choose the correct privacy settings, and then press upload!

How To Make A Fitness Video

So now that we’ve gotten the basics out of the way, it’s time to get specific.  After all, the point here is to create a really great workout video for YouTube.  The most important thing to keep in mind when looking to create videos in a saturated market space is that you need to make sure you’re offering some kind of value or a unique perspective that nobody else is offering.  If you’re going to grow your audience, you need to be able to deliver something to them that nobody else is able to.  So, if you’re looking to build a workout video empire, you need to first define your space in such a way that you’re able to actually reach an audience!

Brainstorm ideas that will allow you to come up with a unique perspective.  If you’re working from home, bring your story to the video series and make people want to watch you! Make relatable content that creates a connection with your audience, not just a series of basic workouts that they could do on their own in a mirror.  If people are going to YouTube for fitness videos, they’re looking for something special, fun, and energetic.

If you’re just starting out with video creation, keep in mind that you’re not going to be perfect right off the bat.  Give yourself a little bit of breathing room, and be willing to try and try until you create a product you’re happy with.

Fitness Videos: The Basics

A good workout space is a must for creating your own fitness videos! Make yourself seem like an authority on the subject before diving right into the deep end, and make your audience feel comfortable relating to you by making sure you look the part with what you’re wearing and the space you’re working in.  If it’s a little cluttered and chaotic, that’s totally fine; just make sure nothing detracts from the focus of your video.

Make sure you’re not complicating the video with complex graphics and instead rely on your ability to communicate directly with your audience through the camera.

Make sure you’ve got a decent camera setup!  If you’re looking to create a professional environment where people feel that they can come to you for fitness advice, you need to be able to create a professional video.  Invest in some good lighting, and don’t forget your camera angles!
